Equipment

Kitchen

  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Paper Towels

Prep

  • Cutting board, paring and kitchen knifes
  • Can opener
  • Whisk
  • Multiple large (serving) spoons

Cleanup

  • Trash bags
  • Mess Kits - bowl, cup and spork in a mesh bag (the Troop doesn't use disposable utensils, so get used to it now)
  • Dunk Station - for cleaning mess kits:
    • 3 tubs
    • Dish soap
    • Bleach or Steramine
    • Brush and tongs
  • Kettle for boiling water - for coffee/tea/cocoa, dunk station

Cooking

  • Pop-up Canopy - if the site doesn't have shelters, cooking and eating in the rain can be less pleasant
  • Table to cook on - if the site doesn't have one


Dutch Oven
  • 12" diameter, 6" deep, with feet per each 6 people
  • Charcoal
  • Charcoal chimney per dutch oven
  • Welders gloves (better than regular hot mitts)
  • Aluminum foil
Propane Stove
  • Large propane tank + propane tee

Fire

Collect or purchase wood on-site to avoid spreading pests.

  • Bow saw - frequently dead wood collected by scouts needs to be trimmed to fit in the fire pit
  • Bucket for water

    • dryer lint + crayon wax in cardboard egg carton
    • cotton balls + petroleum jelly
