Posted in: Pack News, Popcorn by rlgray on September 30, 2011 | No Comments
Each year, Pack 200 participates in the nationwide Cub Scout Popcorn Sale. This fundraiser serves as the Pack’s primary source of funding throughout the year. Pack 200 receives 34% of the total sales and this amount has allowed us to do the following at little or no cost to each scout:
. camping trips
. derby kits
. advancements and awards
. leader training
. annual picnic
Aside from the financial benefits to the Pack, each scout benefits from the sale in other ways. Selling popcorn allows each boy to develop confidence, learn how to work towards a goal,a nd work as a member of a team.
Key Dates:
24 September: sale begins
29 October: sale ends, turn in orders
10 November: product delivery – volunteers needed to help!
17 November: all money due
If you can help, have questions, or need sales collateral, contact your den’s popcorn parent or Val!

It is time we begin our fundraiser of the year. Popcorn sales are very important to Pack 200 because the money earned is truly what keeps the financial end of our programming going. This is a great benefit to scouts, selling popcorn helps build character and teaches life lessons.
It is imperative that each den have a designated Popcorn Parent. This parent will serve as a coordinator for the den, they will gather orders and payments from each scout, hand out weekly prizes to the scouts, compile the den orders to turn into Ed Brown (this years Popcorn Kernel), solicit volunteers to help unload when the popcorn arrives, sort popcorn to fulfill the dens orders and make arrangements to get the popcorn to the den for distribution to their supporters. There will a Popcorn Parent training meeting on Tuesday, Sept 16th, start time and location to be confirmed soon.
If your den doesn’t yet have a popcorn parent, please consider volunteering for this very important role.
Please contact Ed Brown or Todd McIntyre if you have any questions.
