2012 Rocket Day
Posted in: Pack News, Summertime Activities by rlgray on May 8, 2012 | No Comments
When: Saturday, July 14th, 4pm-6pm
Where: Bond Park multipurpose field (next to the dam)
The closest parking to the multipurpose field can be found at the Community Center.
Required Waiver Forms
The Town of Cary requires that all participants read the town’s Model Rocket Guidelines (click to download) document and sign the waiver on the last page. Rob Wilson will be collecting these forms and submit them to the Parks Dept. on behalf of the Pack.
Where can I find rocket kits?
Local stores that carry model rockets include:
Hangar 18 hobby shop on Kildaire Farm Rd (website)
Michael’s in Crossroads
Online sources for model rockets include:
amazon.com
estesrockets.com
hobbylinc.com
Most kits will require some level of assembly, but this is usually limited to just gluing parts together. Be sure to allow at least 24 hours for the glue to dry before using the rocket.
(If you know of any additional locations, please submit them using the comment form at the bottom of the page.)
Building Guidelines
Due to the size of the launch field, please limit your rockets to “A” or “B” sized engines. If you use anything larger, your rocket will probably end up in the trees surrounding the field. Depending on how windy it is, it’s possible that you could lose a rocket even with the smaller engines, so please don’t purchase any rockets that are too expensive or complicated to assemble.
In addition to the rocket and engines, you’ll also need to bring engine igniters and wadding (these are usually included with the engines, but double check just to be sure.)
Please bring your own launch pad to share! The Pack doesn’t have any launch pads. This year, we will designate specific locations for where the launch pads can be set up. Once all those locations are taken, we would like everyone to share.
The pack will provide shade canopies, water, and some frozen treats for the scouts and siblings. If past years are any indication, it will probably be quite sunny, so please make sure your family wears plenty of sunscreen. Boys are encouraged, but not required, to wear Class C uniforms (scouting T-shirts.)
The pack will provide popsicles for scouts, siblings and parents.
If you have any questions regarding the event, feel free to email info@pack200.org

Pack-O-ween Pack meeting!
Posted in: Events, Pack News by kchestnutt on October 11, 2010 | No Comments
As always, the October pack meeting is a special event. All the scouts come to the pack meeting dressed in their trick-or-treat costumes and go trick-or-treating! Each den sets up games, displays, or both in their room and the scouts move from room to room, having fun and collecting candy!
Feel free to bring your siblings, it’s a lot of fun. Sometimes we run a little past 8:00 but as up yet, none of the scouts have complained.
Camping Expo or An Introduction to Camping with the Pack!
Posted in: Camping, Events, Pack News by kchestnutt on August 18, 2010 | No Comments

For a lot of people, scouting is synonymous with camping. Unfortunately, also, for a lot of people, camping is synonymous with rain, snakes, bears, and generally not having a good time. If you are one of those people, we would like an opportunity to change your mind.
On Sunday, August 29th from 5 to 7, Pack 200 will hold a camping expo in the playground area at First church. We will have people there to talk about tents, sleeping bags, air mattresses, cooking out doors, and generally talking about the Pack 200 camping experience.
There will even be food to eat and tents to crawl through.
Come on out and see what camping with Pack 200 is really about. It’s fun for everyone!
