2015 Fall Family Camping

Posted in: Pack News by rlgray on August 31, 2015

Thursday, September 10, 2015 2 PM

Even though our camping trips are rain-or-shine affairs, they are also SAFE. We have been keeping a close eye on the weather forecast for Kerr Lake State Recreation area, NC. Although there is a possibility of thunderstorms on Friday afternoon and evening, Saturday appears to be guaranteed to have thunderstorms. Some forecasts indicate them as early as 9 AM with additional peaks of activity throughout the day from noon and into the evening. With this extended period of possible lightning and the Guide To Safe Scouting requirement to sit them out in our cars, plus knowing that our organization would overwhelm the single shelter the Group Site offers, the Pack leadership has reluctantly opted to cancel this weekend’s camping trip.

We are sad to miss this opportunity for the Fall. Due to the abundance of Pack activities during this season, this event cannot be rescheduled in 2015.  We still have our Spring outing on schedule and possible optional events within the Council.

Have a pleasant weekend!
