2012 Blue and Gold Banquet

Pack 200′s Blue & Gold is an annual family event at which scouts are recognized for their individual rank advancement. The event concludes with our second year Webelos “Bridging to Boy Scouts”.  This year we have 18 boys advancing to Boy Scouts and will be crossing the bridge to their selected troop.

This years Blue & Gold Banquet will be Saturday, February 25th from 5 pm to 8 pm.

The Pack will have a covered dish supper this year.  We are asking each family to bring a main dish and side enough for you.

• Dens 1 through 5 will bring a main dish and side
• Dens 6 through 10 will bring a main dish and dessert

Tigers do not normally attend unless with an older sibling.

The Pack will provide drinks, silverware, plates and napkins. The Blue & Gold Banquet is well attended and space is at a premium due to the size of the pack.

As we are having a Pot Luck dinner this year, there is no cost but we will need a head count as space is at a premium.

What takes place during the Blue and Gold Banquet?

• Pack 200 celebrates Cub Scout’s Birthday which is in February.
• It serves as our Pack meeting for the month of February.
• Webelos I, Bears and Wolfs will receive their Rank Badges.
• Blue & Gold concludes with the “bridging ceremony” in which our Webelos II scouts leave the Pack to become Boy Scouts.

Who should attend?

You are welcome to invite your family and friends.

Does it really last three hours? Why is it so much longer than a normal pack meeting?

We will take every attempt to keep the evenings events moving quickly, but due to the size of our pack, it has traditionally taken this long to present all the rank advancements for the Wolves, Bears, and Webelos. In addition, we have three Webelos II dens that will be bridging to Boy Scouts. At the end of the program, any help to clean up with be appreciated.

What should I bring?

Don’t forget your camera or camcorder! The Pack is asking the dens and parents to bring some games, books, magazines to help keep the scouts occupied during the ceremony. However, we ask that you please refrain from bringing electronic gaming devices.

Will there be Babysitting for younger siblings?

Yes, the Girl Scout Troop will provide the baby sitting services beginning about 4:45pm and ending about 15 to 20 minutes after the program. There is no charge however a donation would be appreciated. The babysitting services will be located in the children’s building.

What happens if my scout has not earned his rank by the Blue and Gold banquet?

The Scout can continue to work on his rank for the next several months. The Pack will have a rank ceremony at the March, April and May Pack meetings if needed.

Blue and Gold Decorations

The dens are encouraged to create table decorations for the banquet. The more creative the better. If you have ideas for decorations, please let your den leaders know.

What can I do help?

The Pack will be setting up the fellowship hall on Saturday, Feb 27th starting at 10:00am. We will set up tables, chairs and the stage. Also the small room off the fellowship hall will need to be set up for serving line. Depending on the number of people that show up, it should take about two hours to set up.

2012 Pack Popcorn Party

Once again, Pack 200 achieved their popcorn selling goal!

To reward everyone for all their hard work, Pack 200 is sponsoring a popcorn party Saturday February 11th at Triangle Rock Club.

There will be two sessions broken down by den:

• 4pm – 6pm: Tigers and dens 3, 4 and 5
• 6pm – 8pm: dens 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

2012 Scout Sunday

A Scout is Reverent.

The Boy Scouts of America designates the Sunday that falls on or before the Scouting Anniversary Day as Scout Sunday. This is the primary date to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to Scouting.

This year, Scout Sunday will be observed during the services on February 12th at FUMC Cary in cooperation with Boy Scout Troop 200. (If your family attends another church, you should contact your church’s office to find out when your church will be observing Scout Sunday.)

Scouts from Pack 200 can participate by wearing their full Class A uniforms, except their hats. Pack 200 scouts are invitied to participate as ushers and acolytes in the Saturday and Sunday services
