Pack 200 Christmas Service Project

Posted in: Pack News by rlgray on December 4, 2011

Once again, Pack 200 has done a great job raising money and gathering gifts for The Carying Place. As you know, The Carying Place is a local non-profit organization dedicated to helping Cary homeless families make a fresh start by providing shelter and education to people in need. This year the Pack has adopted two single mother families each with two young children; Jessica has 5 year old Ja’mez and two year old D’Miya and Andrea has 7 year old Ava and 2 year old Sophie. Both families are working hard preparing for a new life in an apartment of their own and our Christmas contributions will provide them a more joyful Christmas while they work towards financial Independence. Den leaders have signed each Den up to provide toys, clothing or gift card and the charitable heart of this Pack is evident! THANK YOU! The next step is to decorate the trees and deliver the gifts.

On Saturday, December 10 the Pack meeting will begin at 11:00. The first thing we will do is sit with our own Dens to decorate each tree with ornaments made during the December 6 ( or earlier) Den meetings. The trees will be labeled with each family’s names and you should place all wrapped presents under the appropriate tree. Gift Cards should be handed directly to Mike Kennel, Toni Benham or Todd McIntyre, so the cards are not lost in the fray. After the dens have finished decorating the trees, the meeting will move on to other business. Then, after the parade, two vans will be loaded to take the trees and gifts over to the families. One van, with tree and presents, will be assigned to each family and a Carying Place representative will meet us at each family’s home to facilitate the drop-off. Two scout families have agreed to transport the trees and presents. Thanks to each den leader and scout family for opening your hearts and making this service project a great success!! If you have any questions, you may contact Toni at 919-467-3602 or e-mail her at tmbenham@juno.com.
